An Officer and a Conscientious Objector.
Mel Gibson’s makes a solid return to directorial duties with a very watchable war time epic.
A good – and largely Antipodean cast – delivers the goods, but the movie belongs to Andrew Garfield as Desmond T. Doss. (His accent does grate somewhat, but this is an accurate portrayal to be fair.)
Mel directs with flair and some very obvious Christian imagery – but it suits the subject matter.
It’s a fascinating well told story, but, as a movie, not worthy of any Oscar buzz.
