Proof that great chemistry and goodwill is not enough on their own, and certainly no substitution for an original and funny script, Tina “30 Rock” Fey and Amy “Parks and Recreation” Poehler’s latest find them coasting in a bog standard house party comedy where the normally teenage culprits are aged up by about 20 years. Without bothering to exercise their acting or comedic muscles, the film is just not funny or good enough for someone of their pedigree. One can’t help but wonder why they didn’t write something themselves – they must have time on their hands as their shows have finished, right? When James Brolin and Diane Wiest who play their parents outshine them in the few scenes they are in, you know this is a film where the sisters are not doing it for themselves.
