Four stars out of five.
How do you describe ‘Victoria’?
Birdman in Berlin maybe; True Rope-mance possibly – but this is a triumph for director Sebastian Schipper. One marvels at the extraordinary achievement of a film shot in one miraculous 2 hour 20 minute take across one night in Berlin.
Anchored by a charming and assured central performance from Laia Costa, I was transfixed as the movie swerved from indie romance to crime thriller.
In one glorious take.
Visceral, kinetic, emotional. Recommended
